Miqedem (meaning, “from the East” and also “from before”) is a world music band from Tel Aviv, inspired by our Hebrew roots and ancient texts. Their third album, titled “Eshkona” (“I Will Rest”), is entirely based on lyrics from the Bible. For the album’s art, the band requested images inspired by their music and capturing its connection to the earth and to nature. They wrote the music in a friend’s attic in Tel Aviv’s old and picturesque Neve Tzedek neighborhood, during the height of the Covid pandemic. In turn,  I let that music lead the way of the drawings as well, and listened to it surrounded by inspiration in a no less isolated location: a friend’s farm in Portugal.
